Immersed

Immersed is a new body of work that has been stirring in my mind for the last few years since moving back home to Hawaii. When I worked on The Lei Maker for the Honolulu International Airport, I created several panels with water and the human figure. It was challenging for me to paint water and the figure but the struggles intrigued me. After I completed the project, I studied with Alyssa Monks in New York who is an inspiring artist that paints in an abstract and  realistic style. That experience influences my color palette and my approach to painting.

This was my first water study in oil on canvas for Immersed.
